StenoCare Writer Protection Plan for Luminex I

One Year of Professional Writer Service & Repair Protection

Keep your Stenograph Luminex I working reliably with StenoCare from StenoWorks. Originally introduced in 2016, StenoCare provides annual service and repair protection for eligible stenotype machines, helping reduce unexpected repair expenses and equipment downtime.

Although the Luminex I is an earlier-generation professional writer, it remains a valuable machine for many court reporters, captioners, and realtime professionals. StenoWorks continues to service these writers, supported by our experienced technicians, extensive replacement parts inventory, and component-level electronic repair capabilities.

Choose Your Annual Coverage

Renewal Coverage — $249
For eligible Luminex I writers currently covered under a qualifying StenoWorks warranty, active StenoCare plan, or approved manufacturer service plan.

First-Time or Lapsed Coverage — $329
For eligible Luminex I writers without continuous qualifying warranty or protection-plan coverage.

Renewal eligibility is subject to verification. First-time and lapsed plans generally have a 60-day waiting period unless an approved inspection and correction of existing defects permits earlier coverage under the written agreement. Preexisting problems are excluded.

What's Included with StenoCare?

  • Mechanical & Electronic Repair Protection: Parts and labor for eligible mechanical and electronic failures occurring under normal operating conditions.
  • Professional StenoWorks Service: Repair work performed by technicians experienced with Luminex writers and legacy stenographic equipment.
  • Technical Support: Telephone and email assistance during regular StenoWorks business hours.
  • Return Shipping: Standard domestic ground shipping following an approved covered repair.
  • Internal Battery Service: Replacement when necessary as part of an eligible covered failure, subject to parts availability and plan terms.
  • Writer Software: Compatible software or firmware updates when available and authorized.

Optional Loaner Writer Coverage

Add $120 per year.

A malfunctioning stenotype machine can create serious interruptions for a working court reporter. Our optional loaner benefit helps keep you writing while your Luminex I undergoes a qualifying covered repair.

With the loaner option, StenoWorks may provide a compatible temporary writer during an eligible repair, subject to approval, availability, and the loaner agreement.

Whenever possible, we will attempt to provide a similar writer and appropriate keytop configuration. An identical Luminex I is not guaranteed.

Loaner coverage must be selected when purchasing or renewing your plan. Shipping requirements, return deadlines, and responsibilities for the loaner are explained in our StenoCare FAQ and Loaner Policy.

Optional Routine Maintenance

Routine Maintenance — $179

Regular Price: $199 | Save $20

Recommended for Luminex I writers that are operating properly and have been fully reconditioned within approximately the past two to three years.

  • Exterior and interior cleaning
  • Inspection of working mechanical components
  • Appropriate lubrication and adjustments
  • General operation and performance checks
  • Minor cosmetic cleaning and refresh

Routine maintenance does not include complete removal of old grease, replacement of all key pads, or extensive mechanical restoration.

Full Reconditioning (Overhaul)

For Luminex I writers requiring more extensive mechanical restoration, StenoWorks also offers a complete reconditioning service.

  • Thorough exterior and interior cleaning
  • Removal of accumulated dirt, debris and old grease
  • Complete degreasing and fresh lubrication
  • Replacement of applicable key pads and padding
  • Inspection and adjustment of mechanical components
  • Calibration and operational testing as applicable
  • General cosmetic refresh

Routine maintenance and full reconditioning are separate services from basic StenoCare repair protection. Any purchased service is scheduled by arrangement with StenoWorks.

Important Coverage Information

StenoCare is intended to cover eligible mechanical and electronic failures under normal use. It is not an accidental damage protection plan.

StenoCare Does Not Cover:
  • Accidental drops, impacts, or liquid damage
  • Theft, loss, or disappearance
  • Misuse, abuse, or neglect
  • Preexisting mechanical or electronic problems
  • Cosmetic-only damage or ordinary wear not causing a covered failure
  • Unauthorized modifications or resulting damage
  • Routine maintenance or complete reconditioning unless separately purchased
  • Other exclusions in the written StenoCare agreement

Optional accidental damage protection may be available separately through XCover for qualifying equipment purchases. XCover and StenoCare are separate programs with different terms and eligibility requirements.

How to Enroll

  1. Select First-Time/Lapsed or Renewal coverage.
  2. Choose whether to add optional loaner coverage.
  3. Select optional routine maintenance, if desired.
  4. Enter your Luminex I serial number and relevant warranty information.
  5. Complete your order. StenoWorks will review eligibility and confirm applicable coverage dates.

Customers requesting renewal pricing may be asked to provide proof of qualifying coverage. Writers with known defects may require an inspection and repair before enrollment can be approved.
