Coverage & Enrollment

1. What does StenoCare cover?

StenoCare provides repair protection for eligible mechanical and electronic failures occurring under normal use. Covered service generally includes eligible parts and labor, technical support, and standard return shipping following an approved repair. Specific benefits depend on your plan agreement.

2. What is not covered?

StenoCare is not accidental damage insurance. It does not cover damage caused by drops, spills, liquids, misuse, abuse, theft, loss, or unauthorized repair work. Preexisting conditions and purely cosmetic damage are also excluded.

Routine maintenance and complete reconditioning are separate services unless specifically purchased. Additional exclusions appear in the plan agreement.

3. What is the difference between a first-time plan and a renewal?

Renewal pricing is intended for eligible machines with continuous qualifying warranty or service plan coverage. First-time or lapsed pricing applies when the writer does not have qualifying active coverage.

StenoWorks verifies eligibility and may request documentation of your existing warranty or plan.

4. Can I renew if I currently have a manufacturer's plan?

Eligible customers may qualify for renewal pricing with proof of active manufacturer or other qualifying writer protection coverage. Final acceptance is subject to StenoWorks review.

5. Can I enroll after my warranty has expired?

Yes, eligible writers may qualify for first-time or lapsed coverage. New and lapsed plans generally have a 60-day waiting period before covered repairs can be claimed.

An approved inspection and correction of existing problems may provide an alternate enrollment route under the written program agreement.

Preexisting problems are not covered.

6. When does my StenoCare coverage begin?

The effective date and expiration date will be identified in your accepted plan documentation. StenoWorks will review existing warranty coverage and any applicable waiting or inspection requirements.

Repairs & Maintenance

7. What should I do if my writer stops working?

Contact StenoWorks Technical Support before shipping your machine. Our technicians will help troubleshoot the issue, review coverage, and determine whether the writer must be sent in for service.

Please do not send equipment without first obtaining service authorization and shipping instructions.

8. Does StenoCare include routine maintenance or an overhaul?

No. The standard protection plan covers eligible failures, not scheduled preventive maintenance.

StenoWorks offers routine maintenance and full reconditioning separately. Discounted service options may be available when purchasing your StenoCare plan.

9. What if parts are no longer available?

StenoWorks maintains an extensive inventory of legacy equipment parts and offers specialized electronic repair capabilities. However, not every machine or component can be repaired indefinitely.

If a needed part is unavailable or a covered repair cannot be completed, we will explain the available options in accordance with your plan agreement.

Loaner Writer Coverage

10. What is the optional StenoCare loaner benefit?

Optional loaner coverage provides access to a temporary stenotype writer when StenoWorks determines that your machine requires a qualifying covered repair that cannot be resolved without sending it in.

Loaners are subject to approval and availability. An identical writer model is not guaranteed.

11. Will I receive the same model writer?

Whenever possible, StenoWorks will attempt to provide the same or a comparable writer, including an appropriate keytop configuration.

Loaner models depend on available inventory. We cannot guarantee an identical machine, color, or configuration.

12. Can I add loaner coverage after purchasing my plan?

Loaner coverage should be selected when initially purchasing or renewing StenoCare. It is not automatically included with standard coverage.

Contact StenoWorks before enrolling if you are uncertain which option you need.

13. Can I get a loaner during routine maintenance or an overhaul?

Loaner coverage for an unexpected qualifying repair does not automatically include a temporary writer for separately scheduled maintenance or reconditioning.

A short-term rental or separate loaner arrangement may be available. Please contact StenoWorks before scheduling service.

14. Am I responsible for damage to the loaner?

Yes. The customer is responsible for reasonable care, safekeeping, and timely return of the loaner writer and its included accessories.

Damage, loss, missing accessories, or failure to return equipment may result in repair or replacement charges as provided in the loaner agreement.

Shipping & Loaner Returns

15. Who pays for shipping?

For approved StenoCare repairs, standard domestic ground shipping of the repaired writer back to the customer is included.

The optional loaner benefit includes standard ground shipping of an approved loaner under the applicable plan terms. Additional shipping arrangements for the defective writer and return of the loaner will be provided during service authorization.

Expedited shipping is available at additional cost, with a quote provided before shipping.

16. How will my loaner be shipped?

StenoWorks generally uses an established carrier and standard ground service. Carrier selection may vary by destination and availability.

A signature is required for loaner delivery. Please provide a secure delivery address where someone can receive the shipment.

17. How quickly must I ship my writer and return the loaner?

Customers are expected to ship their defective writer within two business days after receiving the loaner, unless other arrangements are approved.

Likewise, customers should return the loaner within two business days after receiving their repaired writer.

Contact StenoWorks immediately if circumstances prevent timely shipment or return.

18. What happens if I return the loaner late?

Unauthorized delays may result in additional loaner charges of up to $50 per day, subject to the written loaner agreement.

Please contact StenoWorks in advance if you need additional time. Any extension must be approved.

19. Can local customers bring their writers directly to StenoWorks?

Yes. Local customers may arrange to deliver and collect their equipment by appointment. Loaner pickup and return arrangements can also be coordinated with our staff.

Other StenoCare Questions

20. Is there a deductible or limit on covered repairs?

Any deductible, coverage limit, service restriction, or maximum plan benefit will be stated in the applicable written StenoCare agreement. Please review the agreement before enrollment.

21. Can I transfer or cancel my StenoCare plan?

Cancellation, refund eligibility, and transfer rights are governed by your written plan agreement and applicable law. Contact StenoWorks for assistance.

22. Is StenoCare the same as XCover?

No. StenoCare is StenoWorks' service and repair protection program for eligible writers. It does not include accidental damage coverage.

XCover is a separate third-party protection product that may be available for eligible purchases. Its coverage, claims process, and exclusions are governed by the applicable XCover policy.
